About Us

The creation of the New Jersey Chinese Community Center was envisioned in 1995 when Jimmy Hwang was the Principal of the 500+ students Mid-Jersey Chinese School in East Brunswick.

Realizing the difficulty of operating a Chinese school with a temporarily borrowed space and the necessity of having a permanent location, Mr. Hwang started the New Jersey Chinese Community Center right after he completed his term as the Chinese school principal in 1995.

The New Jersey Chinese Community Center was incorporated in the State of New Jersey on November 6, 1995 and received the Internal Revenue Service determination letter on December 3, 1996 as a public charity under Section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in Section 501(c)(3).
